Schedule a  conference
As conference time rolls around, we recognize that many parents have concerns about the progress of their child in 7th grade thus far.  Though we attempt to conference with a s many parents and students as possible, it is not feasible for us to meet with everyone.  to help remedy this, we have come up with a simple checklist to assist you in having a Parent-Child Conference with you son or daughter in the comfort of your own home.  This checklist is designed to give you talking points, so you may have a conversation with your child about progress thus far using terminology we use within the classroom.  It is our hope that you find this checklist useful and informational.

  • ASK TO SEE YOUR CHILD'S STUDENT PLANNER.
All teachers post updated assignments and homework on their boards every day.  We expect ALL students to fill out their planners AND we give
them time to do so.  If the planner is blank, he or she needs to make filling it out a priority and follow through with doing this each day during
          the time provided in class.

  • CHECK THE TEACHER'S WEBSITES.
All of your child's teachers post daily classroom assignments and homework on their individual teacher websites.  This information can be used                 to begin a conversation at home using the terminology and assignments named within the classroom.
The link to our websites is http://www.louisvillecityschools.org/louisville-middle-school.html

  • CHECK PARENT INTERNET VIEWER (PIV).
Also available via the LMS website, PIV is a direct link to your child's current grades.  As teachers, we do our  best to keep grades as up-to-date
as possible.  Passwords were sent home during the first few weeks of school.  If your password has been misplaced, please stop into the
guidance office or call them at 330.875.5597.
A good strategy for using PIV at home is to sit down with your child and go over grades together.  Again, allowing your son or daughter to see all
of the graded assignments may help facilitate a conversation on progress.
Your child can also access and use PIV as a means of keeping track of what assignments might be missing and needs to be turned in.

  • SIMPLY HAVE A TALK WITH YOUR SON OR DAUGHTER TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING.
Seventh grade is a very difficult year for students and their families.  There is an increased level of expectation and follow through on the part of
student as we begin to prepare them for eighth grade, high school, and beyond.  Add to this the increased social pressure and the bodily changes
due to puberty, and it is a wonder how any kid makes it through!  However, they do make it through this rough time and, we hope, are better
people because of it.  Taking a moment to just ask how things are going may be the difference between a crummy and a good day for this age
          level.
